Gary Hand wins
"BEST OF SHOW"!
Gary is pleased to announce that he recently won "Best of Show" at the Salida Riverside Fine Arts Festival 2009 on August 15 and 16.
This piece, called a Chiffonier (Chiffonier is from the French, pronounced "SHIFF uh NEAR", and is a tallish narrow chest of drawers or a cabinet sometimes with a mirror attached and can be made in many configurations), is my latest work and was the featured piece in my booth at the show.
100 juried fine artists representing 15 states displayed their paintings, ceramics, sculpture, fibers and other categories of fine arts, on the banks of the beautiful Arkansas River in the historic district of Salida.
Salida is a popular tourist destination and has the distinction of being one of "America's best art towns", according to The 100 Best Art Towns in America, by John Villani. Salida was recently named a favorite day trip from Denver by Sunset magazine, March '09 issue.
